Cats are excellent in hiding their pain since in nature, any indication of pain can be interpreted as a sign of weakness, and weakness can make them a target.
In most cases, it is hard for us to appreciate the cats’ level of pain just by looking at them. In addition, the arthritic changes and related pain can develop so ever slightly which makes it confusing to differentiate if these changes are just an slowing down related to aging process or if it is relate to underlying pain and discomfort.
